Future Explorers’ Club review: a monthly geography subscription for children
Future Explorers’ Club – a monthly adventure through the letterbox
The Future Explorers Club kindly sent us these letters to try so I could share my honest thoughts. I only feature resources I genuinely think are ideal for home ed families. If you decide to buy using my link, I may receive a small commission - at no extra cost to you. Thank you! 💚
Every so often, something lands on my desk that feels instantly at home in the world of home ed, and the Future Explorers’ Club is one of those things. These monthly letters help children explore the world from home through stories, crafts, recipes and facts from a new country each time. It’s a simple idea, beautifully done, and it fits naturally with the way many of us learn at home: curiosity led, flexible, and full of real world connection.
What arrives each month
Each envelope is beautifully presented with a map print design, wax-style golden seal, and that sense of excitement that real post still brings. Inside are:
- A letter from the “Future Explorers” describing their travels
- A beautifully illustrated map
- A recipe card inspired by that destination
- A craft or hands-on activity
- A fun facts sheet
It’s all recyclable paper based, screen free, wonderfully tactile, and genuinely engaging. The illustrations are charming and the print quality feels special enough to keep - like letters from a pen pal in another part of the world.
Why I think it works for home educating families
For parents who value gentle learning and interest led discovery, this subscription hits a lovely balance. It gives just enough structure to spark curiosity, but leaves plenty of space to follow your child’s interests further. Each letter is a starting point, not a full curriculum. It’s more like an open door: an invitation to learn about people, places, food and cultures in a way that feels playful and achievable.
The possibilities are endless, and that’s where the real learning happens. When we tried it, one recipe led to a whole conversation about trade routes and spices. Another letter inspired some creative writing and a map making project. It’s that easy kind of learning, the kind that grows naturally when something captures a child’s imagination.
Practical details
- Ages: I’d say ideal for roughly 5 to 12, though home ed adaptable for older or younger children.
- Cost: Around £4.99 per month (the first letter is currently only £2.49).
- Format: Physical post, UK delivery.
- Bonus: Each month supports a different charity, which is a lovely touch and adds a sense of global citizenship.
You can subscribe for one month at a time, or pay upfront for 3, 6 or 12 months (the longer the subscription, the cheaper the price). You can also gift a subscription, perfect for Christmas or birthdays. They can all be cancelled at any time.
Things to note
It’s a gentle, light introduction to geography and culture, not an in-depth study. But it’s perfect as a monthly spark, something to look forward to, talk about, and build on together. If you have several children, you can easily share the activities and recipes.
The Future Explorers’ Club captures the heart of what many of us love about home education: learning that’s joyful, creative and connected to the wider world.
It’s screen-free, thoughtfully made, and affordable enough to become a monthly tradition. If your family enjoys global stories, food and culture, this is a lovely way to bring all those threads together.

Things to try if you do subscribe:
- Mark each new country on a world map.
- Start a mini project or lapbook for each country; explore its culture, customs, art, poetry.
- Cook the recipe together and explore other foods from the country. Maybe have a monthly “world food night”?
- Create your own explorer’s journal where your children can draw, write or paste photos from each month’s adventure.
